It’s safe to say my albums list will not include anything by Beyonce, Drake, Lil Wayne, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Nikki Minaj, Igloo Australia aka the Kangaroo or any other offender of musical taste. I love what I love and if people like this stuff, that’s fine. I am just some Baseball, Rock and Boxing rockist who is in a Basketball, Hip-Hop and MMA world.

But you would be shocked about what I do like as far as genres go. It’s just I don’t buy the whole Emperor’s New Clothes thing over Beyonce and I don’t like the conservative media attack on her. Just not a fan of the hip-hop, rap, pop aesthetic.

It was a good year for indie releases. But my favourite album is AC/DC’s “Rock or Bust” All killer and no filler. 11 songs 35 Minutes. Lose Riffmeister Malcolm Young and Phil Rudd goes bonkers but like when they lost Bon Scott? They keep going. They are a lesson in resilience and I admire them greatly and yeah they made a kick ass record and that’s why it is my favourite of 2014. Also pleased that the Kinks catalogue is getting a proper overhaul in America.

My favourite part of the list is writing about reissues because it becomes more of a process of elimination. There is so much good stuff, compared to straining to find a top 10 of new releases. But 2014 was a good year for new stuff. Even if it was from old timers.

Once again another vote for the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and Green Day managed to get in while Deep Purple managed to get slighted. Once again Jann Wenner’s bias against hard rock triumphs.

Don’t go to many movies. Usually wait for it to arrive on Netflix. But I thoroughly enjoyed Wes Anderson’s “The Grand Budapest Hotel.” Speaking of Netflix, I enjoyed “House Of Cards”, “Orange Is the New Black” and “Lilyhammer.” On regular TV, “Bob’s Burgers” is great as always, and as for sports drama, nothing beats The Barclay’s English Premier League. Best sports league in the world.
